Advanced Audio Analyzer

Drop any audio file to instantly detect BPM, musical key, loudness (LUFS), dynamic range, and waveform. Everything runs in your browser — your file is never uploaded anywhere.

About the Advanced Audio Analyzer

The Advanced Audio Analyzer is a professional-grade, free tool that analyzes audio files directly in your browser. It measures everything a producer, mastering engineer, or distributor needs to know: tempo (BPM), musical key, integrated loudness in LUFS, true peak level, and dynamic range (LU). All analysis is powered by the Web Audio API and runs entirely client-side — your audio files are never uploaded to any server.

BPM Detection

Automatically detects the tempo of any audio file using a beat-tracking algorithm. Accurate for most electronic, hip-hop, and pop music.

Key Detection

Identifies the musical key and scale of your track using chromagram analysis, helping you find compatible samples and loops.

LUFS Loudness

Measures integrated loudness per the ITU-R BS.1770 standard — the same metric used by Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube for loudness normalization.

True Peak & Dynamic Range

Reports true peak level (dBTP) to prevent inter-sample clipping, and dynamic range (LU) to assess the overall punch of your master.

Fully Private

No file upload. All analysis happens in your browser. Your audio never leaves your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

What audio formats does the analyzer support?

The analyzer supports all formats that your browser can decode, including MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG, and M4A. Most modern browsers support all of these formats natively.

What is LUFS and why does it matter for music distribution?

LUFS (Loudness Units Full Scale) is the international standard for measuring audio loudness. Streaming platforms normalize playback to a target loudness level — Spotify targets –14 LUFS, Apple Music –16 LUFS, and YouTube –14 LUFS. Knowing your track's integrated loudness helps you master to the right level and avoid unnecessary volume reduction by the platform.

Is BPM detection accurate for all genres?

BPM detection is most accurate for music with a strong, consistent rhythmic pulse such as electronic, hip-hop, pop, and dance music. Tracks with complex rhythms, live performances, or classical music may produce less accurate results.

What does dynamic range (LU) indicate?

Dynamic range in LU (Loudness Units) measures the difference between the loudest and quietest parts of a track. A higher LU value indicates more dynamic variation, while a lower value indicates a heavily compressed or "louder" master. Most streaming-ready masters fall between 6 LU and 14 LU.

Why is true peak important?

True peak measures the actual maximum level of an audio signal including inter-sample peaks that occur during digital-to-analog conversion. Keeping the true peak below –1 dBTP prevents clipping on playback systems and is a requirement of most streaming platform delivery specifications.

Can I use this tool to check if my track is ready for streaming?

Yes. By checking the LUFS loudness and true peak readings, you can confirm whether your master meets the delivery requirements for Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and other platforms before submitting.
